Anticipation

Anticipation About this sound Play.

An anticipation (ANT) occurs when a note is played before the chord to which the note belongs and then resolves when the "anticipated" chord is reached. Usually it creates a sense of forward motion, over the bar-line phrasing, and a feeling of excitement in jazz lines.
