Ensemble Awards
A first-place trophy will be presented to the winning ensembles in competing classes L1 through L6 of the large ensemble category, the winning combos in classes S1 through S4, and the winning vocal jazz ensembles in classes V1 and V2. A plaque will be presented to the second- and third-place ensembles in each of the large competing classes, the competing combo classes, and the competing vocal jazz ensemble classes. Ensembles placing fourth in all competing classes will receive honorable mention certificates.
Herb Pomeroy
The annual Herb Pomeroy Jazz Composition & Arranging Contest, named after the reknowned Berklee Faculty legend and jazz great, is sponsored by Berklee College of Music’s Jazz Composition Department and Professional Writing Division. The contests accepts original composition submissions. The winning piece is performed by the Berklee Rainbow Band (under the direction of Phil Wilson) at the High School Jazz Festival. Travel/lodging expenses are provided in order for the writer to attend the performance.
Take Note Award
Take Note: The Berklee Award for Innovative Teaching recognizes excellence, commitment, and innovation in the teaching and development of contemporary music education. This award is designed to take note of music educators who have contributed to the advancement of music education and inspired their students to reach for their dreams.
