2012 High School Jazz Festival

Saturday, March 10, 2012

Mark your calendars. The countdown is on for the upcoming annual High School Jazz Festival. Here’s some important information to make this year a success for all involved!

Let’s talk jazz

Let’s be honest: you really, really love jazz. That’s cool. So do we, and we love talking about it! From blogs entries written by our students and faculty, to features about jazz history, read and discuss anything jazz-related with us.

Berklee College of Music was founded on the revolutionary principle that the best way to prepare students for careers in music is through the study and practice of contemporary music. For more than half a century, the college has evolved to reflect the state of the art of music and the music business.

There’s no such thing as a typical Berklee student. There are students who were playing instruments as toddlers, and those who studied music later in life. While there are similarities among students, each has taken a unique path to our summer programs. What will yours be?

The Berklee Performance Center is located at 136 Massachusetts Avenue, in Boston’s historic Back Bay. The BPC, which is both the college’s flagship performance space and one of Boston’s most prestigious concert halls, is easily accessible by public transportation, with parking available in neighboring garages.

Jazz is the only music in which the same note can be played night after night, but differently each time. -Ornette Coleman
